Why word lists fail

Memorised lists fade within weeks, and IPMAT questions often test a word's meaning in a particular sentence, which a list cannot teach.

Learn in context

Every unfamiliar word you meet while reading comes with a sentence that shows how it is used. Note the word, the sentence and your guess at the meaning before checking. That guess is the skill IPMAT tests.

A 60-day routine

  1. Read one long-form essay every day.
  2. Log five to eight new words a day, each with its sentence.
  3. Review the log every third day, covering the meaning and guessing from the sentence.
  4. Once a week, write five sentences of your own using recent words.
  5. Use the glossary on each GRADFLIX essay, which lists key words with their meaning in that passage.

What to read

Mix science, society and culture so you meet different registers of English. The passages IIM Indore has set, collected in the IPMAT PYQ vault, show the range.

Frequently asked questions

How can I improve vocabulary for IPMAT?
