How reading is tested

  • Since 2020, CLAT is a reading test from start to finish: every section is built on passages.
  • English Language uses passages of around 450 words from fiction and non-fiction, with questions on inference, main idea, tone and vocabulary in context.
  • Legal and Logical Reasoning passages test whether you can follow an argument and apply a principle, not what you already know.
  • With 120 questions in 120 minutes and long passages, reading speed decides how much of the paper you even reach.

Prepare with GRADFLIX

  1. Pick CLAT in the bar at the top for CLAT-style questions after each essay.
  2. Read one essay a day at full speed: about 450 words in under 3 minutes is the target.
  3. Use the mind map to state the author’s argument in one line before you answer.
  4. Use the glossary to build the vocabulary CLAT asks in context.
