Marking

  • Computer-adaptive: difficulty adjusts to your answers
  • No fixed marks per question; scored 205–805 (sections 60–90)
  • Unanswered questions are penalised, so finish every section

How reading is tested

  • Verbal is Reading Comprehension plus Critical Reasoning. Sentence Correction was dropped with the Focus Edition.
  • RC passages cover business, science and social science: main idea, inference, detail, author’s purpose.
  • CR asks you to strengthen, weaken, find the assumption or evaluate an argument.
  • About 2 minutes per question: comprehension has to be quick and precise.

Prepare with GRADFLIX

  1. Pick GMAT in the bar at the top for 5-option RC and CR.
  2. After every essay, write the argument in one line. That’s what CR tests.
  3. Practise “strengthen/weaken” on the essay’s main claim.
  4. Keep to 2 minutes per question.
